Reaching out to a therapist takes a lot of courage! This process can seem overwhelming, so the purpose of this page is to provide you with a little more information on what you can expect to hopefully answer any questions you may have.
After you reach out, Heather will promptly respond to your request. Depending on the amount of information provided in your initial inquiry, she may ask a few more questions such as the nature of your presenting concern, goals for counseling, and information regarding insurance coverage. These questions help to ensure that Heather will be a good fit to assist you on your journey.
Once it is determined that you would like to meet with Heather for an initial intake appointment, she will work with you to schedule. Heather offers flexible scheduling (with hours ranging from 8am-7pm) and typically offers appointment availability within one week.
Heather will e-mail you the initial intake paperwork at the time of scheduling. You may complete the paperwork ahead of time, or you are welcome to complete it in the office at the time of your appointment. If you are utilizing insurance benefits, please bring your insurance card with you as well.
The first session provides an opportunity for Heather to get to know you and get a better idea of the struggles or concerns that led you to reach out. This appointment also gives you an opportunity to get to know Heather and her approach to counseling.
If you have any additional questions or concerns regarding the process of beginning therapy, please reach out! Heather understands that oftentimes it can be intimidating to make that first phone call, so you are more than welcome to start this process through sending an e-mail or message through this site as well!
